Sports meet 2022-23
“All works and no play makes Jack a dull boy”. This proverb highlights the importance of playful activities in our life. Today a school without games and sports is unthinkable, as sports and games have become integral element of present-day education.
Today education is an all-round development of the child. In this respect games and sports play a significant role. It in this backdrop that most schools organize their Annual Sports Day.
The much awaited 3rd Annual Sports Day of MCC Public School was held on Saturday 10th August 2019, with great zeal, excitement and frolicsome atmosphere. Our chief guest for the occasion was Mrs. Bhuvaneshwari -common wealth medalist in Table Tennis. She was solemnly welcomed by our school band. The programme began with the choir singing the school song followed by the prayer by Mrs. Josephine Geetha. The chief guest, Mrs. Bhuvaneshwari, and Mrs.Grace Sheela - Principal of MCC Matriculation Hr. Sec. School took the salute of the impressive March Past of the students along with the tiny tots, coupled with some stirring marching music by the school Band. The students entered into the spirit of the occasion in a grand way with the lighting of the Olympic torch and oath being administered by Arjun of grade 7.
The Principal welcomed the esteemed gathering and emphasized on the importance of sports in a child's life. The chief guest then addressed the students wherein she outlined briefly the value of sports and games in student’s life and possibilities of career options in this field. The inaugural function came to a close with the distribution of prizes.
Once the races began, the air was filled with cheering and tons of encouragement for the young athletes. Students of Kindergarten to grade 8 competed in events including, filling the bottle race, stalking the cup race, stringing the beads and running race. Fun time with parents playing the game added to the enjoyment.
The chief event of the concluding function was the energizing equestrian display of colorful canopies performance by the students of grade 1 to 3 and boomer’s zeal by the students of grade 3 to 6 set the tone for the rest of the event.
The overall champion trophy was awarded to the Meston House. And the best sports student of the year 2019-20 was awarded to Naveen Karthick of grade 8. At the end of the programme, the vote of thanks was proposed by the Head girl Advaitha Nambiar of grade 8. The day was filled with sportsmanship, enthusiasm and memories to cherish.
While sports are known for producing the most remarkable athletes, colorful characters, influential leaders and memorable heroes it teaches you character, it teaches you to play by the rules, it teaches you to know what it feels like to win and lose and it teaches you about life.
