Counsellor’s Corner
The process of counselling enables one to understand themselves better to become an efficient member of the society through an interactive and collaborative relationship with a counsellor. Counselling is “individualized and personalized assistance with personal, educational, vocational problems, in which all pertinent facts are studied and analysed, and a solution is sought, often with the assistance of specialists, school and community resources, and personal interviews in which the counselee is taught to make his own decision”
Student counsellors advocate the well-being of students by listening as they work through their issues with bullying, poor academic performance, low self-esteem, and relationship troubles. Children and teenagers need external support and guidance as they aim to reach the fullest of their potential and school counsellors make it their number one goal to assist them. Apart from this, a school counsellor facilitates programs to manage drug and addiction prevention.
At MCC, we focus on an individual's wellbeing and help them in achieving their fullest potential. Students are referred by their teachers to the counsellor, who then listens to the concerns that cause any emotional or behavioural disturbances, aiding the individual in understanding their own problem to come down to a solution. The counsellor also screens for mental illnesses if needed. Upon the severity of the concern, students are referred to a senior psychiatrist, a consultant to our school.
The school also has various committees like anti-bullying committee and sexual harassment committee. If needed, the case will be disclosed with the respective committees to help the students in a better way. For academic concerns, we also have a special educator within our campus. All the concerns of the students will be kept confidential with records being formally maintained
