Special Education Corner
The Rights of Persons With Disabilities Act (RPWD) 2016 recognizes Specific Learning disabilities (SLD) is an umbrella term that indicates a number of difficulties faced by a person that may affect the acquisition, organization, retention, understanding, cognition or use of verbal or nonverbal information. Typically, children with learning disabilities will experience difficulty coping with school work in spite of their best efforts. SLD may interfere with one or more of the following:
- 1. Expression in Oral language (e.g. listening, speaking, understanding etc.);
- 2. Reading (e.g. decoding, phonetic knowledge, word recognition, comprehension etc.);
- 3.Written language (e.g. spelling and written expression etc.); and Mathematics (e.g. number estimation, computation, problem solving etc.);
- 4.Organization (e.g. sorting, categorization etc.);
- 5. Social Skills (e.g. communication, collaboration etc.)
At MCC Public School, we are dedicated to supporting the diverse learning needs of our students. Our special education program is designed to provide individualized support, helping student reach their full potential. It includes a range of support services such as informal assessments to identify the learning gaps or the learning difficulties, individualized instruction with periodical evaluation to track their progress to ensure that our children continue in the mainstream of education and counselling students and families.
We believe in a collaborative approach to special education, working closely with families and the community to create a supportive learning environment. We offer resources and workshops for parents to ensure they feel empowered and informed.
